The town of Lewisboro consists of the hamlets of Cross River, Golden's Bridge, Waccabuc and South Salem. Settled in the early 1700s, the area's 29 square miles have not changed much and are still primarily open space, including lakes, wetlands, steep hills, rock outcroppings, streams and valleys.
In its heyday, Lewisboro was known as a dairy center, with large farms encircled by white fences and pastureland. In fact, a former dairy facility, Onatru Farm, is now used for town offices. Today, it is better known for its rolling meadows and relaxed country lifestyle.
The area also has 6 major lake communities: Waccabuc, Truesdale, Katonah, Oscaleta and Rippowaam - providing a wide variety of recreational activities. Nearby Ward Pound Ridge Reservation offers thousands of acres of trails for hiking, skiing and camping in the summertime.
